Assem Al Refaei

Assem studies medicine at the University of Jordan, Jordan. His main interest lies in how human microbiome affects health and disease. Currently, he‘s focused on identifying environmental and molecular predictors of autoimmune diseases, specifically inflammatory bowel disease. Assem is also investigating vaginal microbiome composition in pregnancy and its impact on maternal and fetal health. Assem aims on pursuing a PhD related to his interest. However, on his free time, you can find him enjoying a sip of tea while playing with his many nephews and nieces.
